About Me

Welcome to Pedagogy to Share, a blog which will follow and record my learning and my practice as a teacher-educator.

My name is Nikki Aharonian, and I am an Australian born lecturer in the Faculty of Education and the Department of English Language and Literature at the Oranim College of Education in Israel. I also accompany pre-service teachers in their teaching practicum in primary schools.

I facilitate professional learning for practising teaches in northern Israel. In 2017 I received my PhD, in the Faculty of Education at Monash University in Australia. My study focused on the experience of designing and leading an extended government-funded professional development program for literacy teachers in Israel. Learning in the program was based on writing and collegial dialogue focused on writing pedagogy.

For over 30 years, I worked as a primary school teacher, and I served as head of pedagogy and vice-principal for over a decade. My teaching specialisation was in Hebrew language and literature (L1) and English as a second language. I am incredibly passionate about encouraging children to discover the joys of reading and writing and using online tools to enhance the learning of my students.

My research interests include writing, writing pedagogy, narrative, dialogic education, and professional learning.

I am hoping that you will find interest in my reflections and stories and will be active and responsive readers.

Keep healthy and safe in these complex COVID19 ridden days,

Nikki
